Description
Summary:This paper represents the continuation of previously done and published research in this area by the same authors. For calculation of overhead lines flashover rate, the method of lightning limiting parameters (LLP method) that takes into account the flashover voltage dissipation, is used. The purpose of this paper is to simplify the LLP method by establishing the equivalent flashover voltage characteristic. For transient process calculation, the traveling waves method is used. The calculations were performed for an overhead line at 400 kV with vertical insulator strings. The analysis is based on outage rate calculation for overhead lines with different number of insulators in the string.
