Description
Summary:The Digital Twin (DT) concept is leading digitisation in the energy sector by providing real-time data from models that replicate physical systems with high-fidelity. The aim of this paper is to present the detailed modelling and implementation of a DT as an edge-computing solution that faithfully reflects in real-time the behaviour of a controlled three-phase power converter. The experimental evaluation of the DT technology on a complete Power Conditioning System (PCS) allow to verify the similarity between the digital replica and the actual converter. The outcomes achieved demonstrate the feasibility of the integration of a DT applied to three-phase power converters, overcoming research works related to this concept, where the focus is on DC/DC converters with lower complexity. Finally, this development serves as a first step towards achieving robust and parallelised DT as a basis for its application to monitoring, fault detection and reliability of converters.
