Description
Summary:This article delves with the automatic generation control (AGC) of a three-area power system aided with a Fuzzy-PID controller designed by spotted hyena optimization technique (SHOT). In each area, wind energy source is injected with conventional sources like thermal, hydro, and gas energy system. In wind farm, inertia, and droop control technique is adopted, and the generated power is transacted through HVDC link. For other conventional sources, Fuzzy-PID controller is used as the secondary controller. So this controller handles the transient response produced by the system to make the system steady state promptly with less steady state error. The potential of this controller is investigated by comparing with the result obtained by the PID control structure. Further, the sensitivity of the controller is analyzed by injecting an abrupt load change of high magnitude in the first area.
