Novel permanent magnet linear generator topology for wave energy conversion
A novel topology for a permanent magnet linear generator for wave energy conversion is proposed. It aims to increase power density and to eliminate uneven air gap flux distribution caused by the longitudinal ends; this is done by eliminating stator and rotor yokes and by introducing a new flux path....

Summary: | A novel topology for a permanent magnet linear generator for wave energy conversion is proposed. It aims to increase power density and to eliminate uneven air gap flux distribution caused by the longitudinal ends; this is done by eliminating stator and rotor yokes and by introducing a new flux path. Analytical and FEM studies are used to analyse the concept and to compare it to existing machines. Results and design challenges are discussed. (6 pages) |
