Summary: | Channel reservation is a common solution to the call dropping problem in wireless cellular networks. We propose a predictive channel reservation scheme that is based on the mobility of the users. First, the concept of an influence curve is introduced to capture the influence that an active call exerts on the adjacent cells. Then, the amount of channels needed to be reserved in the adjacent cells can be adjusted dynamically according to the influence curve of each active call in the current cell. Finally, a call admission control scheme is proposed. Simulation results show that our channel reservation scheme outperforms the fixed reservation schemes. |
