Development of scintillation-light-transmission type phoswich detector for simultaneous alpha- and beta (gamma)-ray counting

Description
Summary:A new type of scintillation-light-transmission ZnS(Ag)/NE102A phoswich detector has been developed, in which scintillation light emitted from the phoswich is transmitted through an optical fiber to a photomultiplier tube. By adjusting wavelength of the scintillation light to transmittance region of the optical fiber, the phoswich detector was capable of successfully performing simultaneous counting of alpha- and beta (including gamma)-rays. In addition, the detector has been applied to a dip-type inline monitor, which directly contacts with actinide solution. The detector will be available especially in a narrow and/or isolated space such as glove box and hot cell.
