Summary:The article sought to investigate how network marketing develops and the perspective of creating residual income by independent distributors of two companies working in the segment of multilevel marketing in the municipality of Montes Claros--MG. This is a qualitative research, in which a bibliographic survey was carried out on the proposed theme and interviews were conducted with six independent entrepreneurs, in different positions in the work plan. After analyzing the results, it can be concluded that network marketing is gaining more and more space in the Brazilian market. Residual income is the main objective for joining the business, then there is the desire to help other people to have a better quality of life. The difficulties pointed out were: emotional control, organization of time and interpersonal relationships, since each has their own thinking and pre-judgment on the subject. Keywords: Multilevel Marketing; Passive Income; Entrepreneurship; Direct Selling; O artigo buscou investigar como se desenvolve o marketing de rede e a perspectiva da criacao de renda residual por distribuidores independentes de duas empresas que trabalham no segmento do marketing multinivel no municipio de Montes Claros--MG. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, onde foi efetuado um levantamento bibliografico sobre o tema proposto e realizado entrevistas com seis empreendedores independentes, em diferentes posicoes no plano de trabalho. Apos analise dos resultados, pode-se concluir que o marketing de rede esta ganhando cada vez mais espaco no mercado brasileiro. A renda residual e o principal objetivo para a aderencia ao negocio, em seguida encontra-se o desejo de ajudar outras pessoas a terem uma melhor qualidade de vida. As dificuldades apontadas foram: o controle emocional, organizacao do tempo e relacionamentos interpessoais, uma vez que cada um tem seu proprio pensamento e pre-julgamento sobre o assunto.
