The combination of the five lessons presented in this paper provides a unified message: Leading improvisation is about managing the subtle balance between flexibility and control. The five elements presented in the article can help leaders to enrich their individual leaderhsip styles and to create a context within which organizational members can take initiative and help strategies to emerge.
