Summary: | These topics are often interdisciplinary, and useful information, depending on the specific issue, may appear in popular, scholarly, technical, and advocacy sources. These sources can span a wide range of information types, including journals, magazines, newspaper articles, books, government documents ranging from state to federal to international agencies, theses and dissertations, organizational reports, and websites. This article is the second of a two-part series. Part 1, which ran in the November/December 2009 issue, identified and ranked the best databases for searching and finding environmental research and literature with an emphasis on journal articles and books. Part 2 primarily reviews websites and identifies the best places to begin environmental information searches with an emphasis on finding government documents, reports, and data; reference sources; and advocacy or position statements. Neither article focuses on legislative or legal information resources, which are specialized enough to warrant their own review. |
