Summary: | By now, Russia has actually become one of the leaders in the scope of its domestic business laws among countries with transition economies. However, there is still a significant lag in the effectiveness of their application. Enforcement is the weakest link in the system of protecting property rights and fulfilling contractual obligations. Unless there is a radical change in the situation in this field, other measures to protect property rights will be senseless. A favorable investment climate is unthinkable without strengthening the state. In turn, strengthening the institutions of authority without increasing investment activity may lead to the emergence of a poor police state. |
