Description
Summary:Pem-Database.org is a web-based database platform, a new tool in the field of information technology. This database project was designed and programmed by Dr. Itai Shavit, a fellow, from Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, Canada. This Online Database Platform contains online update references to Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) abstracts and full articles published in the printed literature. The website software scans hundreds of PEM publications in, and categorized them into focused PEM Topic. The database platform includes updated sections for recent studies, review articles, EBM section, position papers, and more. The EBM section for example, contains links to recent Controlled Randomized Trials, Cochrane reviews, and Meta-analysis reviews. Its use is free and the interface is simple and accessible. The website is now being used by many PEM/EM physicians in Canada and the US, and in more than 30 countries outside North America. AAEM, SAEM, ACEP, NAEMSP, CAEP include a link to PEM-Database.org as well as EM Organizations in Australia and Europe and almost all the Universities in Canada. Furthermore, in a letter published by the AAP EM-section (fall 2001), the web site ranked #1 among all recommended PEM resources. Pem-Database.Org is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of Pediatric Emergency Medicine through the application of information technology. It is an independent online resource without strict political affiliations to organizations or corporations.
