Summary:The World Health Organization established a Working Group for the DOTS-PLUS approach, which is still under development, but which aims to manage multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) using second-line drugs in low- and middle-income countries. The Working Group emphasizes the need for DOTS-Plus projects to be underpinned by functioning national TB programs that promote sound TB control practices for all patients.
