Highlights • We examine the overall health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in women five years after the birth of their first child. • The overall HRQoL were perceived as rather high five years after the birth of the first child. • Some aspects such as sleeping problems and sexual functioning indicated problems for the women. • Mode of delivery was associated with HRQoL outcomes five years after birth.
