Summary:The flavone ligands 8‐chloro‐2‐tetrahydrofuryl‐1,4‐benzopyrone and 8‐chloro‐2‐(2‐methyltetrahydrofuryl)‐1,4‐benzopyrone have been used to prepare the first examples of alkynyl phosphine gold compounds containing flavonoids which exhibit cytotoxicity towards human prostate cancer cells.
