Description
Summary:The objective of this study is to establish effective and practical BIM adoption strategies by figuring out actual BIM use intentions and grasping quantitative acceptance degrees of key project participants in the Korean Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. The result of this study shows that the key participants were generally positive in interest in and necessity of BIM but did not have strong intentions to accept BIM. In addition, different attitudes of participants toward BIM were identified from them. Especially, architects showed more neutral attitudes compared to other project participants with showing the most negative intentions respectively to other participants in using BIM. This causes a barrier to change into the existing process into the BIM-based one and necessitates an additional actor, a BIM service provider, who supports BIM process while others keep working in conventional manner. By investigating differences in use intentions and attitudes with BIM of participants, this study is expected to contribute to the establishment of more practical and effective strategies to activate BIM adoption.
