Summary: | Highlights • Pal Sweet® , Tropicana Slim® and Equal Stevia® were equally effective as xylitol in controlling the proliferation of oral bacteria within 3hr and 24hr of plaque formation. • Except for Equal Stevia® , Pal Sweet® and Tropicana Slim® were equally effective as xylitol in suppressing the production of extracellular matrix within the 3hr and 24hr plaque. • Equal Stevia® was utilisable by oral bacteria leading to an increase in cell population and matrix formation. • Comparative to sucrose, Pal Sweet® , Tropicana Slim® , Equal Stevia® and xylitol are effective in ensuring the formation of thin and porous biofilm matrix within 24hr of plaque formation. |
