Description
Summary:While attending the AcademyHealth Gender and Health meeting in late June 2012, I was informed that sexual orientation is not a standard question on national public health surveillance surveys. Without including sexual orientation, can these surveys truly monitor trends or track progress toward achieving the national health objectives currently under development for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in Healthy People 2020? The lack of sexual orientation identification in public health surveillance systems threatens to simply result in objectives without methods for tracking outcomes. Adapted from the source document.
