Summary:In May of 2005, the ED data manager performed a comprehensive search of the BMC database, using the codes of International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, to identify patients with the dual diagnosis of seizure and hip/pelvic fracture. The patient was subsequently referred to internal medicine and orthopedics for appropriate management.2 Case 2 An 86-year-old woman with a history of dementia and transient ischemic attack slumped to the floor and had a witnessed tonic-clonic seizure, after which emergency medical services was called.
