Description
Summary:Abstract Correction of a bunion deformity with the use of proximal first ray procedures has historically included additional distal soft tissue and bone work about the first metatarsophalangeal joint. We report the case of a young adult female who underwent isolated first tarsometatarsal fusion for correction of a bunion deformity. Moreover, we describe the published data related to this approach. This technique could have the potential to improve patient outcomes by avoiding postoperative arthrofibrosis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint.
