Summary: | A modern society needs a modern higher education systems with special emphasis on knowledge management, information technologies and lifelong learning. Moreover, higher education institutions should look at the new needs and challenges in their pursuit of a more competitive, dynamic and flexible society. Here, Pinto and Doucet discuss these needs and challenges that will be encountered in promoting information literacy, lifelong and blended learning. Furthermore, they consider e-learning portal as a quality learning resource and detail the main aspects of e-COMS, an e-learning portal designed to promote information literacy in students and to participate in autonomous learning. |
