Description
Summary:HIV-associated salivary gland disease usually manifests as benign cystic lymphoepithelial parotid gland lesions. These unusual lesions are associated with diffuse infiltrative CD8 lymphocytosis and can be seen in early HIV infection. To our knowledge, infectious complications associated with these cystic lesions have not been previously described in HIV-infected patients. We describe a case in which a parotid gland abscess, due to group B salmonella, complicated benign cystic lymphoepithelial parotid gland disease in a patient infected with HIV.
