Electrolytic Deposition of Highly Hard Coatings of a Cobalt–Molybdenum Alloy

We study the process of electrolytic deposition of a Co–Mo alloy with the use of an ammonium-trilonate electrolyte. The influence of the pH value of electrolyte and the current density on the current efficiency and the content of molybdenum in the alloy are evaluated. The structure and microhardness...

Description
Summary:We study the process of electrolytic deposition of a Co–Mo alloy with the use of an ammonium-trilonate electrolyte. The influence of the pH value of electrolyte and the current density on the current efficiency and the content of molybdenum in the alloy are evaluated. The structure and microhardness of the coatings are analyzed. We propose the modes of electrolysis with the help of which one can get coatings containing up to 85% of molybdenum with a hardness of up to 429 kg/mm 2 .
