Hexaammine-cobalt(III) pertechnetate: preparation, structure and solubility

A new pertechnetate salt, [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ][TcO 4 ] 3 ·2H 2 O, was prepared from the reaction of NH 4 TcO 4 and [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ]Cl 3 in water. The [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ][TcO 4 ] 3 ·2H 2 O salt was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and its solubility (6.15 × 10 −4 M) was measured in water at room...

Description
Summary:A new pertechnetate salt, [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ][TcO 4 ] 3 ·2H 2 O, was prepared from the reaction of NH 4 TcO 4 and [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ]Cl 3 in water. The [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ][TcO 4 ] 3 ·2H 2 O salt was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and its solubility (6.15 × 10 −4 M) was measured in water at room temperature. Diffraction measurements indicate the compound to crystallize in the Monoclinic C space group. In [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ][TcO 4 ] 3 ·2H 2 O, the TcO 4 − (avg. Tc–O = 1.716, 1.716, 1.709 Å) and [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ] 3+ (avg. Co–N = 1.966 Å) ions are slightly distorted. The supramolecular structure of [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ][TcO 4 ] 3 ·2H 2 O consists of [Co(NH 3 ) 6 ] 3+ and TcO 4 − layers which are connected through hydrogen bonding. Graphical abstract
