Description
Summary:Bacterial canker is one of the most important diseases of cherry (Prunus avium), which limits the production of sweet cherry cultivation. in this study, the susceptibility of 30 cherry genotypes to the pathogen Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae was evaluated by using an excised twig assay, an excised shoot, and stem inoculation method. The results showed that all cherry genotypes were susceptible to P. syringae pv. syringae. No significant difference was found in the aggressiveness of the different P. s. pv. syringae strains, originating from different plant species. in conclusion, since none of the genotypes showed a level of resistance to this pathogen, caution should be taken in the cultivation of these genotypes in locations where this disease is endemic.
