'On her side': female images in Italian cinema and the popular press, 1945-1955
The different female images found in Italian films and illustrated magazines after 1945 highlight the incompatible roles women were expected to fulfill at that time. Women were portrayed as holding leading positions but at the same time worshipped their husbands and children.
