Description
Summary:Coarctation of the aorta can manifest in a number of ways. Differential diagnosis is particularly difficult during the neonatal period, especially in newborns presenting with a sepsis-like or metabolic disease–like condition. We describe five newborns who presented with metabolic acidosis, renal insufficiency, or ischemic hepatitis and stress the importance of early diagnosis to prevent adverse outcome.
