Description
Summary:We present a ten-year incidence of ulcerative colitis in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. The study included both outpatients and inpatients regardless of the extent and severity of the disease. The mean annual incidence rate was 1.5 per 100,000 inhabitants for the period of 1 January 1980 through 31 December 1989. There was no increase in the incidence of ulcerative colitis during the study period. A prevalence rate estimate of 21.4 per 100,000 inhabitants was based on July 1985 official estimated population. The results confirm the low frequency of ulcerative colitis in central Europe.
