Frequency stabilization of a visible laser diode to an enhanced saturated absorption signal of molecular iodine in an external cavity

A small saturated absorption signal of molecular iodine was enhanced by placing an iodine cell inside an external cavity. Using the third derivative signal of the enhanced saturated absorption signal, the diode laser was frequency stabilized to a hyperfine component of molecular iodine.
