Description
Summary:The political parties in Cyprus changed their organization, functioning and values in response to challenges relating to the country's accession to the European Union, and changes in society. Common trends in the changes were connected to broadening the rights of party members and recourse to communication specialists. Parties sought efficiency through professional administrators and flexible executive bodies. Decline in mobilization and loyalty has not affected membership, while the party role in nominating and electing candidates remains decisive.
