Efficient Synthesis and Molecular Structure of 2-Hydroxyisophthaldehyde

A new highly effective procedure has been developed for the preparation of 2-hydroxyisophthaldehyde from 2,6-dimethylphenol. The X-ray crystal structure shows infinite chains of molecules joined by hydrogen bonds. © 1997 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
