Summary:	In this article, we regard craft as a form of making “publics” from the perspective of the capabilities approach. With this approach, we argue capabilities developed in craft empowerment projects can be mapped and better understood. If projects empower higher internal as well as external capabilities, artisan practices can be used strategically to mobilize further social agency, autonomy, and political praxis.
