Description
Summary:The taxonomic and size structure of twilight and nocturnal insects inhabiting the plains of Middle Trans-Urals has been studied. The insect community under study comprises ten orders, predominantly small (up to 5 mm) and middle-sized (up to 20 mm) insects. It is regarded as a potential food supply (potential trophic niche) for bats. The effect of food preferences on the possible distribution of nemoral bat species in the region of study has been discussed.
