Description
Summary:•• AgBr doping with iodide increases the spectral transmission in infrared range.•• Refractive indices grow with increasing silver iodide content.•• AgBr doping with iodide increases the material photostability.•• The material photostability depends to the composition of the anionic sublattice. The article is devoted to the study of the AgBr – AgI system crystals optical properties in the composition range from 0 to 36 mol. % AgI in AgBr. The study was carried out on polycrystalline plates obtained from single crystals. The refractive index at the crystal' intrinsic absorption edge, the dependence in the refractive index change on the composition and wavelength (from 3.0 to 14.0 μm), the refractive indices' imaginary parts characterizing the attenuation of light in the material and the photostability were determined. All parameters are of key importance for fiber optic products modeling and design over a wide spectral range.
