Description
Summary:A new simple, reliable, rapid and reproducible carbon paste selective electrode for azide ions based on a new Schiff' base complex of iron (III) was prepared and fully characterized in terms of composition, usable pH range and response time. The azide selective electrode exhibits fast, stable and Nernstian response over the concentration range of 1.0 × 10 -6 to 5.0 × 10 -2 M at 25.0 ± 1.0°C in the pH range of 4.3-10.2 with slope of 58.9 ± 1.2 mV per decade concentration and low detection limit of 8.8 × 10 -7 M with a short response time (15 s). The interference of different ions relative to azide ions determined by constructed electrode was investigated. The sensor is used as indicator electrode for the determination of azide ions content in tested standard samples.
