Description
Summary:In this work, spherical-, rod-, triangular- and hexagonal-shaped silver nanoparticles were prepared by chemical reduction method and their antibacterial efficacy against selected Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria had been assessed and compared. The dose-dependent antibacterial activities of prepared silver nanoparticles were observed on the batch studies of disc diffusion and MIC with various strains. Based on the excellent response of disc diffusion and MIC, further concentration-dependent killing kinetics test was conducted on K. pneumoniae with nano-silver. The killing kinetics confirmed that the death rate of K. pneumoniae was higher against spherical Ag as compared to other nanoparticles. The synthesized nano-silver was also characterized by UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy, XRD and TEM techniques to investigate the optical and structural properties.
