Description
Summary:In the present study, lagoon cockle samples ( Cerastoderma glaucum , Bruguière, 1789) were collected from Çardak Lagoon (Çanakkale Strait) between January 2017 and December 2018. Its morphology, condition index, meat yield, length–weight relationship and biochemical characteristics (protein, lipid, carbohydrate, moisture and ash) were examined and were found values of length, weight condition index and meat yield were in the range of 31.69–40.58 mm, 12.62–22.81 g, 3.48–7.61 and 10.40–17.14%, respectively. W/L relationship of C. glaucum exhibited a negative allometry. A positive correlation was found between meat yield and condition index (p < 0.05). Main component of C. glaucum meat were moisture (56.73–69.52%) and protein (59.34–67.88%) with carbohydrate (3.49–19.33%), lipid (9.65–16.47%) and ash (9.39–13.20%) being other components. Moisture was positively correlated with carbohydrate but negatively correlated with protein (p < 0.05).
