Description
Summary:In order to solve the problem that a great amount of image information need to be transmitted on the mariculture of open sea and Beidou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has the limited transmitting capability, this paper proposes a new compression approach to transmit image using BDS, i.e., the variable sequence progressive compression approach (VSPC). Firstly, by performing matrix operation and difference component extraction on the binary stream data, the data quantity is reduced. Then, the data quantity is further reduced by using the iterative compression approach. The simulation results show that the proposed approach can effectively reduce the amount of transmitted data, reduce the compression ratio and improve the data transmission efficiency under the premise of ensuring the same image quality by comparing with the traditional Huffman and DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) algorithms.
