Synthesis and Structure of Organyltriphenylphosphonium and Stibonium Hexabromoplatinates

Organyltriphenylphosphonium and -stibonium hexabromoplatinates were synthesized by the reaction of potassium hexabromoplatinate with organyltriphenylphosphonium and -stibonium bromides in acetonitrile or water. The complexes [Ph 3 PC 2 H 5 ] 2 [PtBr 6 ] and [Ph 3 PCH 2 Ph] 2 [PtBr 6 ] were obtained...

Description
Summary:Organyltriphenylphosphonium and -stibonium hexabromoplatinates were synthesized by the reaction of potassium hexabromoplatinate with organyltriphenylphosphonium and -stibonium bromides in acetonitrile or water. The complexes [Ph 3 PC 2 H 5 ] 2 [PtBr 6 ] and [Ph 3 PCH 2 Ph] 2 [PtBr 6 ] were obtained by recrystallization from dimethyl sulfoxide; the complexes [Ph 3 PCH 2 Ph][PtBr 5 (Et 2 SO-S)] and [Ph 4 Sb·Et 2 SO-O] 2 [PtBr 6 ], by recrystallization of benzyltriphenylphosphonium and tetraphenylstibonium hexabromoplatinates from diethyl sulfoxide. According to the X-ray data, phosphorus atoms in cations have a distorted tetrahedral coordination and antimony atoms, a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination due caused by the Sb···O=SEt 2 interaction.
