Influence of Coal’s Ash Content on the Pore Structure of the Carbon Sorbents Produced

The textural characteristics of carbon sorbents produced by heating G (gas) coal in the presence of potassium hydroxide (KOH/coal = 0.5 g/g) are studied. In chemical activation with alkali, sorbents with developed specific surface and specific pore volume are obtained; the contribution of micropores...

Description
Summary:The textural characteristics of carbon sorbents produced by heating G (gas) coal in the presence of potassium hydroxide (KOH/coal = 0.5 g/g) are studied. In chemical activation with alkali, sorbents with developed specific surface and specific pore volume are obtained; the contribution of micropores is 69–82%. The ash content of the coal has the main influence on the textural characteristics of the sorbents. The specific surface and pore volume of the sorbents are greatest for coal with <10% ash.
