Summary:Peroneus quartus muscle and its variations are well described in the literature. However, the clinical relevance of this muscle is underestimated in persistent lateral ankle pain. The authors report a rare cause of chronic lateral ankle pain which was caused by peroneus quartus. Peroneus quartus muscle should be considered in differential diagnosis of chronic lateral ankle pain.
