Description
Summary:An investigation of the magnetic properties of the Nd16Fe72-xCoxC11B series is described. The as-cast alloys show the coexistence in equilibrium of the Nd2Fe14C phase together with secondary phases, such as alpha -Fe and the very corrosive chi (hexagonal) phase. After one week of heat treatment, the main 2:14:1 phase in the alloys is verified. It is verified that the addition of 1 at % B reduces the presence of a-Fe in this compound, whereas the substitution of Co for Fe causes an increase of the critical temperature. For x = 10 a maximum is observed in both the remanence and coercivity, at 4kG and 3 kOe, respectively.
