The authors first review the literature on orphanhood, schooling, and the role of the extended family system in supporting the education of orphans. Next they summarize the historical, social, and economic context of this study. They describe their research methods in the third section and provide information about their data. The fourth and last section presents the main findings of the study, with their descriptive as well as multivariate analysis results. (DIPF/Orig./Ba.).
