Description
Summary:A quite general semiclassical theory of quasiparticles in the superconducting state will be developed using the language of modern semiclassics [M.C. Gutzwiller, Chaos in Classical and Quantum Mechanics, Springer-Verlag, 1990]. It will then be shown how this formulation of the problem can be used to derive a Lifshitz–Kosevich formula for the de Haas–van Alphen oscillations in the superconducting state. It will be argued that this formula implies oscillations with the same frequency as in the normal state but with reduced amplitudes. Experiments on the classic superconductor V 3Si will be discussed.
