Description
Summary:PZT powders, some containing excess PbO, were prepared by solid state reaction, then blended with 40 vol% Ba6Ti17O40, which had a plate-like structure. Specimens prepared by tape casting were laminated, pressed and the binder removed at 500 C, followed by isostatic pressing at 98 MPa and sintering at 1100-1250 C. PZT with < 111 > texture was obtained using the PZT containing excess PbO. The barium titanate acted as a template, and the excess PbO formed a liquid phase during firing, which promoted dissolution of the PZT grains and their reprecipitation on the surface of the barium titanate, with < 111 > texture. 6 refs.
