Reaction kinetics of the scavenging of α-oxoaldehydes by aminoguanidine under physiological conditions

The rate of reaction of aminoguanidine with α-oxoaldehydes derived from glucose fragmentation and glycolytic intermediates was investigated. Aminoguanidine reacted most rapidly with methylglyoxal, glyoxal and hydroxypyruvaldehyde.
