Import-Substitution Industrialization Policies in the Dominican Republic, 1925-61
During WWI, US Navy leaders introduced many legal, financial and economic reforms to the Dominican Republic. The effects of a 1919 customs tariff imposed to favor the duty-free importation of US manufactured products in the Dominican Republic are examined.
