Description
Summary:The solutions to the Ernst-Wild (1976) equations describing a Schwarzschild or Kerr black hole in an external homogeneous magnetic field are examined, after removal of conical singularities. The physical properties of this modified Ernst-Wild solution are examined, including the electromagnetic fields outside the hole, the fluxes of an electric and magnetic field through the event horizon, and the deformation of the horizon due to the external field. Physical quantities are calculated for electromagnetic four-potential, electric and magnetic field fluxes through the upper hemisphere of the horizon, and equatorial and meridional circumferences on the horizon.
