Summary:The effect of separation of particles with different roughnesses and elasticities occurring in a rapid gravity flow of granular medium is investigated experimentally. A mathematical description of segregation kinetics of cohesionless inelastic spherical particles with different physicomechanical properties under gravity flow of granular medium is suggested. A comparison between the results of mathematical simulation of the segregation process and experimental data is presented and the main mechanism of segregation is clarified.
