Description
Summary:This paper presents a guidance law to circle an aircraft around a target with a specific radius. The guidance law creates an acceleration command that is normal to the inertial velocity using a side-bearing angle and distance ratio to the target. The global asymptotic stability is demonstrated for the proposed guidance method, and the design parameters are determined from the linear analysis. Additionally, a scheduling method is proposed for the specific approach path- a normal and a tangential path to the desired circle. The proposed method is demonstrated using simulations and flight tests.
