Summary: | All MICNs must maintain a high degree of commitment, both to their competency to provide quality medical control for out-of-hospital calls and the practice of quality documentation. Generating a legally defensible communications log is a skill requiring more attention to detail than it often receives. MICNs need to appreciate that a legal record is being created that may be subpoenaed in the same manner as ED charts. The best malpractice insurance available is an emergency record prepared so that it is legally capable of standing on its own merit. |
